Exciting Times In Times of Uncertainty

We are all aware that bad news makes headlines and sells national newspapers. Unfortunately, it is the world we live in, and for the reporters, there has been no shortage of bad news to cover. Industry papers on the other hand, I am referring to financial services publications here, are the polar opposite.

New hires, deals done, expansion plans, record performance figures, increases in AUM, the list is endless. Now I am a happy go lucky, relaxed kind of chap, much preferring to read about good, exciting, interesting news. Surely, we all agree? Which brings me on to some good news at BWD.

At the beginning of the year, we announced three new arrivals https://bit.ly/2GDxguS (we can now make that four) and two internal promotions https://bit.ly/2tzJgF4. In addition to this, we launched phase one of our new website. The site features an enhanced candidate dashboard, access to news, guides and brochures, enhanced job search with LinkedIn integration to each consultant, to name just a few. Please have a browse if you have not done so already www.bwd-search.co.uk

Even more exciting is the return of the Six Nations this weekend, the finest sporting tournament in existence……..according to me and probably some other slightly unhinged Rugby Union fans. Wales entertain England at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in what should be an amazing atmosphere and encounter. I shall be enjoying this spectacle with a social libation or two, along with some likeminded Rugby enthusiasts.

The Financial Services industry is often viewed as a barometer for how the economy is performing. If this is the case, then from a recruitment perspective, it is going rather well. From boutique advisory firms, through to the global banking behemoths, all are hiring. Is this down to firms believing a deal will be done, an extension of Article 50 is inevitable, or just good old resilient Britain getting on with life? Whatever the answer is, firms are still hiring, and people are looking at their careers, despite all the uncertainty.

A final big thank you to all Financial Advisers and Paraplanners who completed our recent BDM Quality Census. The data has been compiled and analysed, with some interesting data being revealed. With the solitary vote for Dr Who as best BDM being the only real anomaly, the report will be written shortly, so look out for further updates. The winner of the £250 Amazon/John Lewis voucher will be announced soon and a donation presented to Mind Leeds, our chosen charity for the year.

I shall sign off wishing you all a very good weekend, with hopefully an England win in Cardiff.
